When I'm not sure what to blog, I'm just going to put a resource out there. The wonderful John Roberto and associates from the Center for Ministry Development, a US Catholic bunch, developed a "Comprehensive Approach" to ministry with young people (and children and families) about a decade ago. It's an approach not a method or program. John and Cheryl and I wrote an Australian version, which you can still get from MediaCom, although I have a couple of hundred copies that I bought very cheaply from them.
We are using it in our youth ministry course. Some might think it's modernist but I don't. The approach encourages people to think of settings beyond the gathered congregation as places for minstry and mission, and helps people to see the gospel and its expressions as multi-faceted, not just about young people having fun together at "youth group".
Anyway, I developed a board game to use in training and here it is. I'm just seeking publisher's permission to put the training manual up as well.
Here it is, but it will probably only make sense if you know about the Comprehensive Approach.
