"Patrick Smith wanted to be a professional skateboarder, but hurt himself and became an animator. His films have been featured on MTV, several Spike and Mikes Collections, and hundreds of international film festivals."
Patrick Smith of "Blend Films" reates animations with attitude. He has worked on the TV series "Daria" as well as other TV shows, commercials and music videos. He is currently producing animated segments for the new US "reality TV" show 30 Days.
He is currently working on some animations for Donors Choose - a charity where people can donate to assist needy students.
Smith's short animations have won numerous awards and deal with personal and interpersonal attitudes and behaviours. They can be visually blunt and provocative, with black humour and sometimes twisted characters.
"Handbrake" explores the sticky side of relationships, where a simple handshake can lead to being well and truly intertwined with another person.
"Delivery" opens up the effects of violence spawned in seemingly innocent situations.
"Drink" asks about the multiple aspects of our personalities.
"Kissing" is just funny.
