my November 2005 edition of Paste Magazine went to my old work address, so I've just recovered it and about to start on the CD and DVD. The mag has an interesting interview with Storm Thorgerson, legendary album cover artist, most notably for Pink Floyd (but also Muse, Peter Gabriel, the Cranberries, and many more). His exhibition Taken By Storm has been touring the US. Storm actually sees his images as "performance art" - in most cases an extremely difficult real event that occurs for a very limited time and is hence captured by photograph - like the burning handshake on "Wish You Were Here" or the dozens of people actually sitting on telegraph poles on the cover of "Transmissions" by Gentlemen Without Weapons.
Of course his work is highly symbolic and generally a critique on some aspect of western culture. I really like the idea of creating real, improbable, living scultpures, so to speak.
You can pay BIG bucks for a limited edition print at his website.
