i picked up a few bits an pieces of music up north. the queensland uni cd shop had loads of great stuff. i bought 6 cds of black gospel music for $50! one of the highlights is "Down By the Riverside" by Sister Rosetta Tharpe, a big gospel name from the 30's and 40's. Have a listen to her here.
Albums by Aretha, the Blind Boys, and 3 compilation CDs. Remix heaven! Also "Black Gospel Down Under" - 19 gospel tracks sung by Australians and compiled by none other than David Busch. It's an ABC disc.
I also picked up "Sanctuary" book and CD by Trish Watts and Gabrielle Lord - great group prayer meditations with taize-type music. From Willow Connection, but MediaCom sell it too.
And "My Flame Turns Blue" - Elvis Costello Live with the Metropole Orkest and a bonus disc of his"Il Sogino" Suite. Then there's "Pulse" live Pink Floyd concert finally released on DVD.
And new Uncut, Word and Q mags & CDs.
a good weekend of listening up ahead!
