I was a subscriber to Paste Magazine since its early days through its growth to a respectable publication. When the financial crisis hit the US, advertisers dried up and eventually the magazine went belly up, with subscriptions not honoured. The website kept going but that was it. since the magazine had been the source of a lot of my knowledge about new music, particularly in the US, i was not a happy camper.
the lastest news is that the original 3 guys who started Paste have teamed up with the dudes who run Wolfgang's Vault, Crawdaddy and Daytrotter to relaunch Paste as a weekly online magazine. The Paste music sampler is now 7 songs per week to download. Cost will be US99c per week. Of course there are fewer articles in a weekly mag, but there are also videos to watch and plenrty more songs to listen to.
Music sampler arists in the first two issues include Jolie Holland, Amos Lee, The Low Anthem, Over the Rhine, Bright Eyes and The Decemberists. Need I say more!
